The Band History

Big D & G Man at the very first gig they played as a Duo

The Presidential Blues Band were formed in 2016 when Big D & The G Man (who had met previously but not played together) were at a Gold Coast Acoustics Music event, and Coast Acoustics needed some music for a space filler at short notice. The guys had a quick 2-minute rehearsal in the carpark, and then hit the stage. They didn’t have a name, and Big D was the President of Gold Coast Acoustics at the time, so they were introduced by the MC hosting the event as the “Presidential Blues Band” and the name stuck.

They then became a permanent Acoustic Duo that performed at various events and venues with a varying list of guest 3rd members (usually either Piano / Harmonica / Slide Guitar  / Mandolin). Big D had successfully used that format 20 years earlier in Tasmania playing as the Shotgun Blues Band, which were also a 2 piece with varying guest members playing the Hobart Circuit.

However, in early 2017 the format changed when they met the man called “Uncle” when he became available as a guest artist. The musical chemistry was obvious from the moment they played, and the fans loved it and within 2 shows Uncle had become the permanent 3rd member of the band. They have now also got a catalogue of original tunes, and have also branched out into Music festivals as well with very positive results.
